My rig for measuring tooth lash on bevel drives. The relieved jig "door" keeps the ring gear concentric while being easy to assemble and disassemble. The "axle"and large "Nut" compress the bronze shim for accurate measurements. The little thumbwheel opens an expansion joint, locking the lower ring to the splines hub, allowing the operator to "wiggle" the ring gear and get the measurement. The pinion is locked with a tapered clamp. I believe this is an improvement over the somewhat primitive method described in the factory manual. #beveldriverepair #gearboxrepair #scottiesworkshop #vintagebmwmotorcycles
